Pasta Lunch

One day last month T and I decided to make a pasta lunch with a little more oomph to our carbs and tomato sauce. Right off the bat while he had our parmesan prosciutto tortellini boiling away , T took some asparagus doused with balsamic vinegar and rosemary to grill on the bbq. I caramelized some onions. Then added diced garlic, thickly sliced button mushrooms and a jar of roasted portobello mushroom sauce. Next we added chunks of fresh zucchini, a few handfuls of baby spinach (for that extra iron) and topped with freshly shredded basil from the garden. The asparagus was so good it never made it to individual plates.

Mini Cheesecake and Salad

My girlfriend and I decided to take a walk to Brick Street Bakery in Leslieville and picked up some Mini Cheesecake tarts.  They had a sprinkle of nutmeg on top.  We paired them with a crazy salad we made with leftovers.

Mother’s Day

This year my mom decided to come to Toronto the weekend before Mother’s Day and she told us (my sister’s and I) that she wasn’t going to cook anything and wanted to be pampered.  No problem!

For a typical family dinner we called our cousins, Aunt and Uncle, family friends and girlfriends/boyfriends and fired up the bbq.  We had back ribs, steak, salmon steaks, salad, chicken wings and two types of desert (flourless chocolate cake, mixed berry apple rhubarb pie).  Overall my mom was surprised at how good of a time she had.  I bet my dad (who decided to stay home and golf) was jealous.  Who wouldn’t be after looking at these pictures.

Father’s Day

So this past Father’s Day we went down to Windsor with my Aunt who was visiting from HK.  My sisters had to go to my cousin’s bridal shower and I got to go golfing with my dad Saturday and Sunday!

We had a great BBQ Saturday night.  My mom went to Costco to grab huge pieces of steak.  We had mixed greens with berries for the salad and some chicken wings and portobello mushrooms for sides.  I made a maple/mustard/balsamic dressing as well.

Welcome!

Thanks for coming to visit my food blog.  Whenever there’s good food I’ll try to take a few pictures and post them here.  I love to eat good food so hopefully I’ll be able to share a few recipes along the way as well.

Cheers!
